What is Google AI Pro for Education?

Google AI Pro for Education is a new add-on offering from Google for educational institutions using Google Workspace for Education. It provides a suite of advanced, AI-powered tools designed to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative tasks. It’s a premium, paid offering that builds upon the foundational AI features already included in the free Google Workspace for Education.

Here’s a breakdown of what Google AI Pro for Education includes:

1. Expanded Access to AI Models:

• Gemini 2.5 Pro: This gives users, particularly educators and students, expanded access to Google’s most capable AI model for tasks like writing assistance, brainstorming, and creative collaboration.

• Deep Research: A powerful tool that can save hours of research time. It can browse and analyze hundreds of websites in real-time to generate comprehensive research reports with citations on almost any topic.

2. Enhanced Learning and Productivity Tools:

• NotebookLM: A “thinking companion” that helps users organize their thoughts and research. You can upload sources like lecture notes, research papers, and readings, and NotebookLM can then answer questions about the content, generate summaries, create study guides, and even turn documents into podcast-style audio overviews.

• Gemini in Google Workspace Apps: This integrates AI assistance directly into familiar applications like Gmail, Docs, and Sheets. It can help with drafting emails, summarizing long documents, creating presentations in Slides, and more.

• Veo 3: An AI tool for video generation that can transform text or images into short video clips.

3. Administrative and Security Features:

• Enterprise-grade data protection: The data used with these tools is covered under Google Workspace for Education terms. This means the data is not human-reviewed or used to train public AI models.

• Admin Controls and Reporting: Provides administrators with the ability to manage and monitor the use of these AI tools within their institution.

4. Licensing and Availability:

• Google AI Pro for Education is an add-on that can be purchased for any Google Workspace for Education edition (Fundamentals, Standard, or Plus).
