Description Show Reviews Absolutely no soldering required! All that’s needed is a few gentle taps with a hammer and bazinga! Your header is securely attached to your Pi Zero or pHAT. Raspberry Pi Zero not included If your soldering isn’t quite up to scratch, or you just don’t own a soldering iron yet, then these nifty hammer headers might be just the job. They come in male and female flavours, and use crafty littleretaining nubbins to grip tightly into the holes on thePCB. Theinstallation jig kit contains two acrylic base pieces, onto which your Pi Zero or pHAT sits, two steelbolts, two nuts (use these on top of the PCB to hold it tightly to the base of the jig), an acrylic top piece onto which you hammer, and both a male and female header. Make sure you carefully read Pimoroni’s guide for fittinghammer headers , and use a sturdy, stable, well-supported surfacewhile hammering . We strongly recommend using the installation jig! If you want to try without it then godspeed to you but it is a delicate and tricky process! The female headers are simpler to insert than the male headers asyou can hammer straight onto the plastic of the header, but the male ones are particularly tricky without the jig. Please note: we can’t be held responsible for any damage that you may cause to your Pi Zero, pHAT, fingers, or headers while fitting them. If you follow the guide carefully then you should be fine. If this worries you, then get yourself a soldering ironinstead! Watch the demo of how to fit the hammer headers on Bilge Tank, below. 1 Review Hide Reviews Show Reviews 3 read instructions CAREFULLY Posted by Christopher Olsen on Jan 23rd 2024 Jan 23rd 2024 The jig worked as intended however having updated photos in the instructions to show the installation using the kits with metal bolts and nuts would be helpful as the product photos do not show that the nuts should be on top of the pcb securing it down. wish material was slightly more durable as the top piece snapped in half before i was fully finished and i had to use the edge of a flathead screwdriver to tap one side the rest of the way in. For the price its a good value but I would be willing to pay more for a more durable jig.
